Known & Notable Tennesseans highlights the people who have made an impact on the history of the state. This is a living exhibit that will continue to grow as more profiles are added. The information is not meant to be a complete history of the individuals listed or a complete list of people important to Tennessee history. Instead, each profile features a very brief description with a larger emphasis on the materials in the Library & Archives' vast collections that are relevant to the person's life or time in Tennessee. While there are countless people, both known and unknown, who have made an impact on the history of Tennessee, additions to this exhibit are made based on what is represented and can be identified in the Library & Archives’ collections.
