The center line represents life's healthy conditions such as balance of character, pleasures of the intellect and body, self-respect, and soul preservation. The top and bottom lines show the aberrations of the drinker's character, for example, disease, lack of morals, laziness, lying, cruelty, cowardice, and insanity.
